You do not have to win to win.
In arguments, in tournaments, at work, in life - you do not have to Win the game to win the prize.
Do you remember the men’s English football team in the Euro Final last year?
Yes they made the final - it was amazing. They had won already for so many reasons.
They went up to get their second place medal. They all came off the podium and took the medal off. and their heads were down - they looked like the biggest losers.
But imagine - what if they’d kept the medals on, they’d kept their heads up, they’d clapped and looked genuinely happy for Italy. Not so ‘loserish’ now.
I watch how people lose, and that’s how I know who is really winning.
In my early career I wish I had known that I dont have to win to win. That instead it’s better to cheer the others, be part of the solution, support others to grow - but I thought I had to have the idea, know the answer, solve the problem - otherwise, I’d get found out! They’d know how bad I really was!
It was such a relief later on to (just) support others to find answers and grow.
Felt like I was finally winning in my career!

Are you Winning?
One of the most wonderful axioms of working with others is that recognition grows when you spread it around. Keep it to yourself and it stays the same.
