I’ve been gardening today. A thing I’m getting to enjoy more. My garden is definitely Me v Weeds. As I was madly pulling out these plants it got me thinking…
Who says what is a weed and what is not?
There are few definitions that give a good enough reason why some plants get to be OK and others not.
And then I sort of started to admire my gang of weeds. I mean they fight back with determination and intention. They get more creative each time. Some hide behind what they know as the ‘good plants’ so you don’t spot them. They find cracks in paths that you didn’t even know was a crack.
They are the most creative plant.
They don’t get put off by a bit of pruning, no in fact that makes them grow stronger, and apparently wider.
So actually maybe we should appreciate weeds more.
In theory the weed should be long gone, extinct many many years ago.
But they aren’t going anywhere.
And just think of the World with no weeds. What would we do on a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon?
(Yes I know, lots of other things… but go with me)

I like weeds (except nettles) and I don't do gardening. If I lived on my own I'd have a wildflower (weed) meadow in my outside space!
