“It is not our task to master the present, but to savour it. To pause. Go still. Feel the air on the back of our necks, sit in both discomfort and pleasure, and marvel in the radiance of the present moment. So that we may, in the poet William Blake’s words, “Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand / And Eternity in an hour.” For all we ever have is now.” Creative Mornings
I have always thought of Now as impatient.
I want it all Now.
Now or never.
Now has urgency and pace.
So in reaction to that I thought I needed to be more patient, to be ok waiting. But the more I explore the topic of now, the more it becomes neither patient or impatient, it’s just now.
Quite a hard concept some days when bills are pouring in, emails are pinning, people are wanting things from you, there is noise every where.
But I’m realising the noise drowns out now.
Just being ok with now.
With everything we’ve got right now.
Do you find it easy to be ok with Now?

I will remember this! The ability to 'sit in both discomfort and pleasure'. I'm not quite there yet but taking 2 mins to ponder this has helped alleviate the pressure of Now, albeit momentarily. I'm ok with my own Now but it's other people's Nows that I find harder to manage. They somehow always take priority over my own but you're right, it's just noise that can happily play in the background.
