The note is a bit late this evening because we’ve been trying to get a frog out of the pond. It was one of those moments of ‘ahhhh look at the frog, how cool’. I called my daughter over. ‘It’s not moving Mummy’. ‘Maybe it’s a sleep’. ‘I think it’s dead Mummy’. Urrrgghhh. ‘Well we need to get it out because it can’t rot in the pond’. And then we spent 15 minutes trying to fish (frog?) out the poor dead animal. The roller coaster of nature right there.
So all this frog fishing and of course what popped up in my head? That book! Eat That Frog! The power of a brilliant book title. Have you read it? Were you made to read it?
I could never read it.
I’m too visual.
I don’t want to think about eating a frog, and definitely not one being boiled in a pot!
The closing chapter of book says ‘The key to happiness, satisfaction, success and and wonderful feeling of personal power is for you to develop the habit of eating your frog first thing every day when you start work’.
I love them message of the book ‘You will never get caught up, you will always have things on your to do list, you will always be behind. So you have to be selective and know what is most important’.
In other words get over yourself and give yourself a break!
You are doing fine.
I don’t know where the sacrifice of a Frog comes into it. Like I said I’ve never read it (although I have 3 copies on my shelf!).
I guess it’s genius marketing. The book has sold 2 million copies Worldwide. And continues to be a personal development favourite.
So what is my Frog Inspired Ponder tonight?
That yes sometimes we can way over think things.
That sometimes we are closer to getting enough done than we think.
And that sometimes, very quickly, a moment of Ahhhh can turn into a moment of Urrrrgghh.
Eat That Frog.
