Faith
Keeping faith even when there is absolutely nothing around you that would suggest you should
I still haven’t got the Lessons from Bobby Gillespie ready yet. Some further pondering required. And now I’m reading Alan McGee’s book. I’m stuck in some sort of 80s/90s music time machine but it’s brilliant.
The one thing that strikes me with both books / stories is that success was a long drawn out thing that took many years, many setbacks, many failures.
The faith that they all kept, in themselves and each other went on for years, with no sign of anything changing or happening for them. In a way they didn’t care, but in another way they really did care because they loved what they were doing and the alternative was too grim to think about. Back to the factory, back to the railways, back to the squats. So they kept going, keeping the faith. It was nearly 7 years from McGee signing Primal Scream to their hit Loaded. And even after that it wasn’t a smooth line upwards.
So the thought is if you really want something you will find a way, you will keep faith. you trust yourself and just keep going anyways, because the alternative is far worse.
