My daughter had a dance show today. Quite a big production, in front of about 500 people. Street / disco / tap group dancing.
There were about 200 children taking part.
Each of them had their routines, their costumes, their moments.
You didn’t just notice the ones that got every step perfect (not many did!). You noticed the ones with 100% commitment. Who just committed whether they were in tune, in line or had any rhythm. They were out there, smiling, doing their thing. You noticed the ones that fell over but bounced up and carried on, re-joined the group, got back into their stride. You noticed the ones that helped the others, making sure they all got on and off stage ok, checked on the others if they fell, or looked nervous.
It’s ok to do your thing and dance like everyone is watching!
It’s not all about nailing it and being the best. The best performances come in all shapes and sizes, even if sometimes they are dancing to Rock This Party by Bob Sinclair as a retro throw back hit (and you realise that the 00s are suddenly what the 70s were to you!).
