“In every success story, you will find someone who has made a courageous decision.”
–Peter Drucker
I don’t know if I agree with that. Maybe. But also
“In every success story, you will find someone who has been completely intentional with their decisions and also had a brilliant bit of luck.”
Courage is a thing often talked about in self-help, leadership development, personal growth. But is it really what is going on?
Courage to me is Russians standing up against their leader. Ukrainians picking up arms to defend their country. People getting on a boat to cross dangerous water to save their lives.
Being so motivated by wanting the success you take decisions to get it. Is that really courage?
I’m still exploring this.
I just see the word used a lot. And I’m not sure that’s what’s really going on. But it does make success more heroic, and less self-indulgent.
What does courage mean to you?
