It’s not a cancelled flight.
It’s a missed school play. A missed appointment. A missed business meeting to get the job you really wanted. A missed holiday you really needed. A rescheduled week. An argument about what to do next. A child’s tears. Disappointment. Frustration. Staff getting shouted at. Staff wondering why they are doing this job.
A cancelled flight is a lot of people rethinking that there must be more to life than this!
My husband was due home today (after a post overseas). Flight cancelled an hour before take off. So much depended on this flight. Fortunately not all of above going on 👆 for us. (I think my husband is a bit shocked how ‘unbothered’ my daughter is! ) But definitely a massive inconvenience with a lot of logistics now being rearranged for the rest of the week.
But my observation is not about our re-planning, more about what happens in that moment of disruption to what you thought was going to happen and now on a different path.
Anger, frustration, disappointment is the default reaction but doesn’t solve the problem, probably causes more problems.
It’s a test of our resolve and resilience. And maybe be even glimmers of opportunity amongst it all (although I’ve not found the glimmer in our situation yet).
Life throws us challenges. We choose how to catch them.

I hope he is home soon.
There is an art to finding positive in frustrating challenges. This one has given you a topic for discussion.
I guess your daughter's reaction shows that looking at an issue through a child's eyes can help us reframe the problem....
