This post is in celebration of David McKee, the author of Not Now Bernard, Elmer and Mr Benn, who passed yesterday.
If you have in any shape or form children in your life you probably have read ‘Not Now Bernard’. Maybe even it was a book from your childhood.
The sad sad, but very realistic, tale of Bernard, whose parents weren’t really present, they were very distracted, and didn’t even notice that in fact he had been eaten by a monster and Bernard was in fact now the monster who ate him.
A very relevant tale as we enter Easter Holidays, and still trying to work, but also trying to keep it ‘Fun memorable times’.
But also Not Now Bernard is a brilliant reminder about Noticing. Noticing the things around us. The things that perhaps we aren’t noticing as much as we should because we are too Busy on other things.
So in celebration of the creator of Bernard, let’s stop and notice something that was right under our nose and we’ve been un-noticing for too long!
Would love to hear what you noticed.
